Vintage boat enthusiasts Sherman Langell and Paul Harrison are on course for the First Annual Sicamous Antique and Classic Boat Show.

The waters of Sicamous will soon be graced with a variety of vintage vessels on display during the 1st Annual Sicamous Antique and Classic Boat Show.

The event, scheduled to take place Aug. 5-7, will include up to 40 boats dating back to the ’30s, including Sicamous resident Sherman “Skip” Langell’s 1957 Chris Craft Sea Skiff. Langell has helped organize the event, being put on by the Okanagan Antique and Classic Boat Society (OACBS). Originally from Michigan, Langell says Sicamous and the Shuswap are a good fit for the show. The OACBS feels the same.

“The boat show existed for many years down in the Okanagan at various locations and, in 2007, they lost their dockage,” says the OACBS’ Paul Harrison. The society hosted an informal event in 2010, the success of which swayed members to bring the show to Sicamous.

“The town has been very supportive and very helpful, and the membership of our club has really bought in to the idea, and so have local businesses and people we have consulted with,” says Harrison.

Vessels will be on display Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the municipal dock near Moose Mulligans. A cruise will take place Sunday.  For more information, visit www.shuswapcbs.com
