Has a member of the Shuswap community made a positive impact in your life or made Salmon Arm and the Shuswap a better place to be? If so, nominate them for a Community Leader Award.
Nominate your community leader by filling out the entry form in the Observer and Shuswap Market News and include a 250 word write-up with information on how long the volunteer has served the community, the contribution they have made and any community groups they are affiliated with.
Please provide references from other people who can provide more support on the nominees behalf.
Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:
• Coach
A volunteer who makes a contributes to their sport by fostering skills and confidence and high athletic achievement
in their players.
• Mentor – A community leader such as a counsellor, teacher or educator who provides support or sponsorship, inspirational motivation and is an ethical and professional role model.
• Courage – An individual who has inspired those around them by overcoming challenges and adversity on the road to success.
•Above and Beyond – Someone who goes beyond the requirements of their job to make a positive contribution to their community.
• Emergency Service – An emergency responder who has gone over and above the call of duty, selflessly accepting the risks of their job.
• Service Organization Volunteer – a member of a community service organization who is well regarded and and significantly relied upon by other members of the organization.
• Volunteer – This individual makes a positive contribution to the community by volunteering their time to a variety of causes.
• Working with youth volunteer – Positively influences youth in the community by providing direction, programs or support.
• Environmental leader – Someone who inspires others to be “green” by championing environmentally sustainable causes and projects.
• Community Builder – Someone who has organized local residents in a new community project or event in order to foster participation and result in a more engaged community.
• ¥outh volunteer – A person under 21 years of age who is enrolled in School District #83 or at Okanagan College, who still manages to volunteer their time in the community.
Nominations must be in by Wednesday, May 10.
After consideration by the selection committee, awards will be presented at a gala reception at 7 p.m. June 22 at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort.
