A reception in honour of the winners of the 2010 Remembrance Day Poster contest was held on April 9 the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #99.

In attendance were Jody Osmundson, the Malakwa Learning Academy teacher, Joan Chafe, principal of Parkview Elementary school, many of the parents and relatives of the winners and members of Branch #99.

Owen Willey, from the academy, won first prize for his primary level black and white poster at both branch and zone level competition, and third prize at the province-wide BC/Yukon Command level. Joanne Jankowski, also from the academy, won first prize for her primary level colour poster at both branch and zone level competition. Netanya Quessy from Parkview won first prize at the intermediate level in both the colour and the black and white competition.

These students are to be commended for their outstanding efforts in clearly expressing the Remembrance Day theme in their art.

Branch 99 would like to thank the teachers and parents who made an extra effort in not only attending the reception, but for providing the encouragement and support to these students. Last year saw a great increase in the number of students participating in the contest and the legion looks forward to continued growth and success.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for your participation.
