All entry forms must be submitted in person on Sunday, May 8, between noon and 7 p.m. at the Red Barn Arts Centre.

A Beautiful Arts Contest celebration will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Red Barn. In order to claim the prize money, contestants must be present. If not, the prize will go to the runner up, and if the runner up is not present the prize will not be awarded. There must be at least five different contestants for each category or the prize will not be awarded. There are three entries allowed per person in each category. Make sure you read all the rules and regulations before you sign your entry form.

There are no exceptions to the rules.

There are eight categories and $1,500 in prizes. The biggest prize,  $500, goes to the best song for Sicamous. If you ever wanted to write a song, now is your chance to shine.

The words “Beautiful Sicamous” must be included in the lyrics. The song must be recorded on a CD, and a copy of the lyrics must be provided. Recording quality will not be a consideration and this competition is open to all ages, amateurs and professionals.

The winner(s) should be prepared to perform the song on May 15 , 2 p.m., at the at the Red Barn Arts Centre. Songwriters are the only ones who  will be notified in advance of their win so that they can prepare for the celebration’s performance.

The Arts Council would really like to see the youth of Sicamous involved, and has created categories just for them. The subject matter must clearly feature Sicamous in both photographs and paintings.

Ages 6 – 12

Photography - a prize of $100; painting – $100;

Ages 13 – 17

Photography – $150, painting – $150.

For those 18 and up,  there are the following categories:

Photography –  $200; painting – $200.

For all ages, there is a poetry category, with a prize of $150.

With Sicamous as your muse, a lot of people should be inspired to write beautiful verses.

Please make sure that you read all the rules re: length, size, presentation etc. This will save you from disappointment at the time of registration.

The judges for all the categories are well-known in their field. Each entry will be judged without the judges knowing the identity of the contestant.

So get out your paint brushes, cameras, pens, and instruments and start creating art about our beautiful Sicamous. It will be a lot of fun to see the end results on May 15.

Good Luck to all the contestants.
