ADAM Integrated Industries recently celebrated 13 years of having Badger on board, a collaboration that helped put the Salmon Arm manufacturing company on the map.

First started in 2006 with just eight employees, including the owners, the local company produces parts and components in stainless steel and aluminum for a variety of industries, including trucking, oil and agriculture. In 2010, ADAM started manufacturing for Badger Infrastructure Solutions, and has since grown to include two locations with approximately 50 employees.

“Becoming a major supplier to North America’s premier manufacturer and operator of non-destructive excavating equipment has solidified ADAM as a major manufacturer in the… Interior,” said ADAM sales and business development manager George Rithaler. “And we’re proud to call Salmon Arm home.”

Badger Hydrovac uses pressurized water to liquefy the soil cover during excavation, then sucks it into an onboard storage tank, with this method removing the risk of traditional digging equipment damaging underground infrastructure. As they currently have approximately 1,387 operational units in North America that they maintain for an average 10-year lifespan, they require a lot of parts.

As such, the working relationship between the two companies began after Badger had a problem with an existing supplier and, after trying ADAM’s product, have been collaborating with them ever since. They started by making intake and exhaust silencers (mufflers) for the vacuum blowers, then between 2013-19, added another half-dozen products supplied to Badger, including blower cross-members, chock block holders, chain hangers and parts for the boom snorkels’ support system. Today, ADAM is the sole manufacturer of the Hydrovac boom and the Hydrovac and Airvac blower silencers, having supplied over 3,000 of those to Badger alone.

‘We’re a multifaceted company,” Rithaler said, adding that they also make acoustic barrier walls to put around equipment and control rooms.

On Oct. 27, ADAM held a showcase event with a finished Badger Hydrovac truck to thank not only the community and industry specialists for their support, but also the employees. This gave them the chance to see the finished product outfitted with the components they’ve manufactured, ask questions and get ideas.
