Construction supply businesses in the North Okanagan and Shuswap are building their reputations as winners of the 2023 Orion Awards.

The Building Supply Industry Association’s (BSIA) annual awards recognize the best retailers in the industry, with three local companies taking top honours against competitors from across B.C. and the Yukon.

Of those three, Sicamous’ Parkland Home Building Centre earned bragging rights as the winner of the Urban Hardware & Rural Lumber Yards division, taking home a plaque to display in-store.

“Wow! We are so thankful for this amazing award,” the company wrote on Facebook. “Our team works hard to help our community every day, and it feels wonderful to have that recognized.”

Joining Parkland in the winner’s circle is Central Hardware in Enderby, which won for the best Building Centre (Contract Yard), and Vernon’s Home Building Centre for Building Supply Centre (Mini-Box Centres).

The Orion Awards are based on independent mystery shoppers that evaluate all member stores, with the top 20 in five different categories receiving recognition for their commitment to excellence, customer service and creating a welcoming environment for shoppers.
