The District of Sicamous will be upping its bylaw enforcement over the summer through a contract with a Salmon Arm security company

On Monday, April 29, the district announced its one full-time bylaw enforcement officer won’t be alone this summer thanks to a contract for bylaw services with Vadium Security/Salmon Arm Bylaw Services, which will provide coverage as and when needed. This seasonally contracted service will allow the district to provide increased bylaw enforcement and offer education about existing bylaws, reads a district media release.

“As our community grows and our summer boating, hiking and biking season fills up, it becomes more apparent that services are needed to ensure safety and that rules and bylaws are being enforced,” said Mayor Colleen Anderson in the media release. “We want to welcome everyone to Sicamous and encourage residents and visitors to abide by our parking, fire restriction and fireworks prohibition rules.”

Salmon Arm Bylaw Services will provide one certified bylaw officer over the summer who will prioritize parking and patrols of local parks with a focus on education over enforcement.

Salmon Arm Bylaw Services has Level I and Level II trained officers and supports bylaw services in neighbouring communities including Armstrong and Enderby, reads the media release.

“As a locally owned and operated company deeply rooted in community values, we are committed to delivering exceptional service tailored to the unique needs of Sicamous residents,” said Vadium Security director Prasad Savanagouder.

“We are excited to partner with the District of Sicamous to bring our customer service-driven program to the community,” District development services manager Nicole Hansen said she and her team “are excited to collaborate with Salmon Arm Bylaw Services and do some learning along the way.”
