The Salmon Arm RCMP is looking to identify a group of local kids sending car tires free-wheeling down hills.
On April 4, in the 1400 block of the Trans Canada Highway, a group of four teens rolled a car tire and rim downhill toward a nearby hotel and the highway, hitting and damaging a parked vehicle in the process. A similar incident was also reported on April 17, however, the tire was stopped before hitting anything or anyone in that case.
“These incidents are being fully investigated due to the fact that someone could have been seriously injured or killed by a fast rolling vehicle tire on rim that weighed over 18 kilograms (40 pounds),” Const. Andrew Hodges said in an April 20 media release. “Fortunately, no one was injured in these incidents, however, police caution doing such acts could result in being charged with a criminal offence.”
Police have already identified one of the teens involved and are working with local school officials to ID the others, all of whom were observed on security footage.
