The Sicamous Eagles are looking for new places to roost and seeking billet homes in which to do so.

The team will not be renewing its $6,700-a-month lease at the Eagles Nest, which has housed them since the 2020-2021 season but has since become less viable.

“Food costs, staffing, etc… with so few of us doing the lion’s share of the work it’s not sustainable,” team governor Sheila Devost explained. “It got us through COVID and has been a wonderful opportunity for the team to have access to that type of facility. The boys like it, but at the same time they miss having privacy, it’s tight quarters.”

As a result, the team is looking for billet homes for the 2024-2025 season, which starts in September. Anyone who has an extra room and becomes part of the team is encouraged to apply, with each billet home receiving $750 a month to help cover costs, and season tickets. Billet parents are considered the guardian of the player(s) they house, and are responsible for their care and well-being. They are asked to provide them with a bed, dresser and/or closet space, linens and regular meals and snacks as Eagles burn a lot of calories in hockey season. The list of information can be found on the team website at sicamouseagles.com/billeting.

Anyone interested in becoming a billet family is asked to contact Devost at 250-574-3522 for more information.
