The Salmon Arm Silverbacks’ 1-0 overtime win on Friday was a game to celebrate for goalie Eli Pulver.

The team was in Cranbrook over the weekend for a pair of games versus the Cranbrook Bucks at Western Financial Place.

The first game, on March 8, concluded with an empty netter scored by Salmon Arm’s JJ Monteiro at 9:46 in overtime.

Throughout the game, both teams struggled to find the back of the net, with the goaltenders on both ends – Pulver and the Bucks’ Braedyn McIntosh – stopping everything thrown at them.

For Pulver, the game marked his 10th career shutout after stopping 42 shots on net.

The following evening, the Bucks’ Jack Silich capitalized on a high-sticking penalty that bought Salmon Arm’s Isaac Lambert time in the sin bin early in the first period. Cranbrook held on to the 1-0 lead until about midway into second period, when Maddux Martin delivered a goal assisted by Marcus Broberg and Cole Cooksey. In the last minute of the frame, Cooksey added the game winner, aided by Martin and Cole Longacre.

The game ended 2-1 for the Silverbacks.

The Salmon Arm team is now set to host the Trail Smoke Eaters on March 15, followed by the Coquitlam Express on March 16. For more information, visit sasilverbacks.com.
