A Bible camp has been left high and dry after thieves took off with their rescue boat.
Gardom Lake Bible Camp’s emergency boat was taken recently, along with two new red and oragne kayaks. But the thieves did leave behind an old tin boat and paddles on the beach.
After posting a picture of the boat left behind, the camp learned some interesting news.
“It was stolen from somebody in Armstrong,” said Rikk Kieft, a camp director. “That same day they used it to steal our boat.”
The public is asked to keep an eye out for the 14-foot silver and orange aluminum boat, which had a new Honda 2.3 gas motor on it.
“It is very important to us as it is our rescue boat.”
The camp has since gone ahead and purchased a new motor for the boat left behind, which the owners said the camp could use until their original emergency boat is returned or replaced.
Anyone with information is asked to call 250-838-6645.
The incident has upset and angered many local residents, but it has also spurred support.
Enderby’s Tactical Boat Works has offered to fix or repair anything on the ‘temporary’ boat at no charge until the emergency boat is returned or replaced.
