Dollars are down but numbers are up.
The dollar value of building permits to the end of May was $1,104,912, down from $1,382,742 over 2014, but the number of building permits was up to 75 from 51 last year.
“The number is way up, which to me is very positive,” said Mayor Terry Rysz. “This indicates there is more building going on by 30 per cent.”
The value of construction permits single-family dwellings was up by $100,000 over last year to $700,000
“I think it will get better,” said Rysz of the Sicamous economy. “There’s a good buzz in the community right now.”
