Vehicle found, man still missing: Search for Kelowna senior continues

Kelowna RCMP are confirming that the truck belonging to a high risk missing 79-year-old man reported earlier has been located in the Beaver Lake and Dee Lake Road area.

The missing man named Alan Francescutti was not with the vehicle when it was found by members of the Okanagan Forest Task Force and an off-roading group called O.T.B. at approximately 11 a.m. on April 23.

Francescutti was last seen leaving his home in the Lower Mission on April 16.

Police are asking the public to remain out of the area as officers along with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue are working to search for the man.

“It is important that people don’t saturate the area and interfere with our initial search,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier Media Relations Unit. “We have several resources right now looking for our missing, including air services, PDS, drones and Search and Rescue.”

The public is being asked to help Kelowna police locate a “high-risk” 79-year-old man named Alan Francescutti who was last seen on April 16.

The missing man is described as an elderly, 5’6” feet tall, Caucasian, with grey hair and green eyes.

Francescutti may have a medical condition and RCMP believe he may have travelled to the Mabel Lake and the Shuswap Falls area as recently as April 12.

He was last seen leaving his residence in the Lower Mission area in a dark blue or black 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, license plate 8847BH, with a tonneau truck-bed cover, a Warlock trim package, and front and rear mud flaps.

Francescutti also mounted a chrome ram head ornament on the dash of the vehicle.

He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, blue shirt and black pants.

Family members are concerned for his well-being as the length of time he has been out of touch is “extremely concerning.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or the nearest police detachment and reference file number 2024-19989.
