New name, same fundraising effort.

The company that has helped North Okanagan Shuswap Crime Stoppers raise funds for its organization the past seven years kicked off its 2013 campaign of selling a coupon, or gift, card with more than $1,400 in value Tuesday.

Formerly known as Rocky Mountain Marketing, the newly named 4 Elements Consulting Ltd. will canvas door-to-door from Lumby through the North Okanagan to Sicamous and Salmon Arm.

“Our name and the Crime Stoppers logo will be on our jackets,” said Gordon Thorpe, project manager for 4 Elements Consulting. “The jackets are now orange in colour and, as usual, we have name badges that will prominently be displayed.”

The cards cost $28 (with tax included) and feature deals from such businesses as restaurants, the Vernon Recreation Centre, gyms, golf courses, the Vernon Vipers and Salmon Arm SilverBacks, and even from as far as the Kamloops Wildlife Park and rafting in Clearwater.

“This is our major fundraising effort each year,” said Roger Knox, president of the North Okanagan Shuswap Crime Stoppers Society. “The proceeds we receive from the marketing campaign help pay the tips we receive and run our organization.”

Thorpe said he expected the campaign to run for a couple of months.
