September 15, 1931 - January 30, 2019
Douglas Roderick Aspeslet, born September 15, 1931, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Joan, and granddaughter Sarah. Doug was survived by his siblings, Sylvia, Iris and Nigel. Doug and Joan were blessed with four children; Roderick (Lynne), Gordon (Bertha), Pamela (Michael) and Carolyn (Harvey), as well as numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and one great great-child. Doug spent time serving in the Air Force prior to meeting and marrying his wife Joan.
Doug lived and worked for many years in the oilfields of Alberta and Saskatchewan before settling in Whitecourt, AB where he also volunteered as a leader with the Boy Scouts of Canada and Youth Sports as a referee. After retiring to British Columbia in 1990 Doug continued to spend much of his time in the service of the community as a referee, Scout leader, Citizens on Patrol, and with many other clubs and Boards.
A Celebration of Life will be held: Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2:00 pm Sicamous & District Seniors Centre 1091 Shuswap Ave., Sicamous, BC. Everyone is welcome.
