March 3, 1938 - February 26, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father. Edward Lowell Williams, 81 of Sicamous, BC passed away on February 26, 2020 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
"Ted" was born on March 3, 1938 at Port Alberni, BC to George and Edith Williams. As a teenager he moved to Burnaby, BC where he met Patricia Sharon Corbett "Sharon" at high school. It was a match made in heaven that was tragically interrupted by her untimely death from cancer in 2005.
After graduating from high school, Ted completed a Bachelor of Science and Education from the University of British Columbia. Several years of night school and summer school were needed to complete these degrees.
Mr. Williams taught at Suncrest Elementary and Royal Oak High School in Burnaby until he moved to Sicamous in 1976 where he taught at both Eagle River Secondary School and Parkview Elementary School.
While teaching was his career, farming was his passion. Ted and Sharon's farm was widely recognized as a source of top-quality breeding stock. After retiring from 35 years of teaching, Ted took pride in showing his polled Dorset sheep. The culmination of years of breeding and hours of careful preparation resulted in dad's exceptional success in the show ring at the Interior Provincial Exhibition.
He was loved by all who knew him, and his many friends helped to fill the empty space in his life left by Sharon's passing. Ted loved dogs and always rose to the occasion of taking care of his four-legged friends at "the Hilton on the Hill" where he would spend hours throwing a ball for one or more dogs: Aspen, Teak and Millie. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy, son Brian and daughter-in-law, Terry.
Ted and Sharon are together in heaven, never to be separated again. At Ted's request, no memorial service will be held. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
