We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved dad, Ian Leary on July 18, 2023, at the age of 75, in the Salmon Arm hospital with his family by his side. Ian was born on August 1, 1947, in Edmonton Alberta. He spent his youth growing up in the Hazelton, B.C. area. Following in his Dads footsteps, he was a bareback bronc rider in the rodeo. Ian married the love of his life, Eileen Kerr in 1969 and started their adventure together. With 3 daughters, they relocated to Sicamous, B.C., in 1981 to raise their family. Ian worked for Louisiana Pacific from 1981 until it closed in 2004. In 2008, Ian moved to Salmon Arm to be closer to his daughter and grandkids. Ian will be forever remembered as a kind man, who always had time for a game of crib and good conversation. He had a friendly smile for everyone he met. He enjoyed time spent with his family, friends, fur babies. He always made his grandkids' friends laugh with his lively dinner-time stories. Ian is survived by his daughters; Shannon Leary (Travis) of Lumby, Sharmmon (Dusty) Richardson of Salmon Arm and Shauna Leary of Red Deer, as well as 7 grandchildren; Jeremy, Reese, Jayden, Teegan, Torrie, Leo and Sophie. Ian was predeceased by his loving wife Eileen nee (Kerr) in 1999, his parents Hap and Buddy and his brother Bob. In respecting his last wishes, Ian was cremated and he will be reunited with his beloved Eileen. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ian may be made to the Shuswap Paws rescue society or the Canadian cancer society.
