Reader amazed by lack of scientific literacy

I read the resident challenges evolution theory article and would like to comment on it.

As a retired professional engineer with over eight years of post-secondary science education, I am constantly amazed by the lack of scientific literacy in our modern world.

The media feels compelled to provide opposing opinions and to present them with equivalent weight. Unfortunately, when one opinion is supported by almost 100 per cent of scientists in the world and the other side by a few radical extremists, I do not feel that the few deserve equal exposure.

What David Riley fails to acknowledge, limited by his rigid religious beliefs, is that the biological fact that the DNA replication error rate is 1 in 4,000, and that this fact is the basis for biological adaptation.

I suggest your paper refrains from supporting profoundly ignorant religious beliefs and passing it off as balanced reporting.
