Sicamous shines with Sturgis North event

would like to express my thanks to the community council, businesses and citizens of Sicamous for opening their streets and businesses to the attendees of the motorcycle event this past weekend.

I would like to express my thanks to the community council, businesses and citizens of Sicamous for opening their streets and businesses to the attendees of the motorcycle event this past weekend. It was certainly one of the highlights of our trip.

I know an event like this can be disruptive, noisy and aggravating to the residents; however, they can be interesting and entertaining at the same time.

Closing main street in any town for any length of time can cause problems and there are, of course, always safety issues to deal with, along with extra civic employees required to manage the whole affair. I understand the amount of extra effort that goes into planning for out of ordinary occurrences.

I believe it is all worth it. I could tell many of the locals thoroughly enjoyed the excitement, and many of the businesses welcomed the extra business opportunities through the day.

I know many of the riders came and went that day without taking the time to say thank you to all of Sicamous for hosting the event. It doesn’t mean they didn’t appreciate the effort and the welcome. As a member of the riding community I can say with certainty they all enjoyed it very much and would certainly come back again if given the opportunity.

Thank you from us. Hope to see you next year.

Wow! Sicamous volunteers, you did us proud with the Sturgis North celebrations in town.

Many thanks to everyone involved.

Sicamous is now on the map for many people who have never even heard of this town before.

We hope it will become an annual event and perhaps even go to two days.

We just wanted to thank all the volunteers, town employees, emergency services, downtown businesses, venders, Sturgis North organizers, the legion and the chamber of commerce for a great day at the Friday burn out competition.

I am sure that many others were involved as well that deserve a slap on the back!

We had numerous guests commenting that it was the highlight of their trip to Sturgis North. The event showed people what a small town can do and our Shuswap hospitality.

As local business owners, we appreciate the Sturgis North visitors that came to town during what would have been an otherwise very quiet and wet summer weekend.

We look forward to the future of the event and hope we can all build on this year’s success.
