In minor hockey action this weekend, the Sicamous Predators Novice Hockey team attended the North Okanagan Knights 12 team tournament.

Beginning on Saturday, the Predators played the Kelowna Devils all-star team. Even though the Predators were outmatched, good defensive efforts went to line-mates Madison Dewitt, Scott Rokosh, and Jacob Dewitt, Colton Fleming, who were continually trying to clear the puck out of their end. Ty Sigvaldason played in net and was very busy, with more than 50 shots. The Predators strongest offensive efforts went to Caleb Wykes, and he was named hardest working player of the game.

Later that day, Sicamous came up against the host team, the North Okanagan Black Knights. Noah Sutherland played strong in net, with the help of the Predators defence. Korbin Forsyth had many offensive rushes and was able to finally net the puck late in the second period, with an assist by Jacob Dewitt. Sicamous dominated the third period, with a great rush by Scott Rokosh and Ty Sigvaldson, but just could not beat the Knights’ strong goaltending. The end result was a 9 to 1 decision for the Knights. Player of the game went to Ty Sigvaldson.

Early Sunday morning, Sicamous met the Winfield Bruins. Again, the defensive lines worked hard to keep the attacking Bruins from getting shots on goaltender, Ty Sigvaldason. Korbin Forsyth and Caleb Wykes dominated the offensive play for the Predators, with Korbin scoring two goals and being named player of the game. Bruins beat the Predators 8 to 2. Next home action game for the Sicamous Predators Novice Team is Sunday, Feb. 20 at 11:45 a.m. against the Chase Bombers.
