Vernon swimmers make a splash at Salmon Arm meet

Vernon Kokanee Swim Club (VKSC) members splashed to new personal bests at the annual Salmon Arm meet over the Feb. 9-11 weekend.

The VKSC sent 24 swimmers to the meet, where 84 new and best times were set.

Rowan Brett, Nicole Fang, Brooklyn Jardine, Violet Jenner, Joelle Martin, Noah Mulligan, Asher Vander Deen, Korbin Wade, and Wesley Wynsouw all grabbed personal bests in all events. Jenner also achieved new divisional times in the 50 and 100 metre backstroke.

The top point earners on the weekend were:

  • Rowan Brett- 151 points (first place for 11-12 year old boy category)
  • Violet Jenner- 121 points (third place for 11–12-year girl category)
  • Danika Buse- 74 points (second place for 15 and over girls category)
  • Taryn McGowan- 60 points (third place for 15 and over girls category)
  • Nathan Hubbard- 146 points (first place for 15 and over boys category)

Vernon also sent 11 swimmers to the jamboree, where 38 new best times were set on Feb. 11.

Personal bests came from Olivia Aucamp, Quinn Patterson, and Sofia Schreve
