Sicamous’ fourth holes: 260-foot drop or a plunge in the river

Hyde Mountain Golf Course and Eagle River Golf Course both have a tricky fourth hole

While there are plenty of great golf courses in the Shuswap area, golfing in Sicamous is a stand-out event involving beautiful scenery and stunning views.

Oh, then there’s also that famous 260-foot drop at Hyde Mountain Golf Course’s fourth hole!

Perched in the hills above beautiful Mara Lake, Hyde Mountain features rugged terrain with stunning views.

And keeping with tricky hole number 4s, Sicamous’s Eagle River Golf Course also has a challenging shot to make, according to the district’s website.

“Whether you’re new to the sport or a pro, we’ve got courses designed for you,” says the district’s website.

“Rounds of golf in Sicamous routinely involve jaw-dropping lake views or peaceful riverside ambling, elevation changes and lush turf.

“While you enjoy the challenges and tranquility, try to avoid losing your ball in the river on hole #4 at Eagle River Golf Course and nailing the landing area 260 feet below the tee on hole #4 at Hyde Mountain Golf Course.”

Surrounded by waterways (Eagle River, Mara Lake and Shuswap Lake), Sicamous is known as the Houseboat Capital of Canada. It’s about 490 kilometres from Vancouver, B.C., and 480 kilometres from Calgary, Alberta.
